Psst... hey... guess what? XD OH, A SKIN CHANGE! Well, my friends, for the month of december I have made a gift for you <3 haha. Now, since you're all still on Silence and I can't even imagine the degree of strangeness that it looks like right now, you need to go quick into your profiles and change it to this month's dandy theme, which has nothing to do with christmas or winter, because I'm a rebel like that xD. The skin's called... uh... -racks brains- well, something about toads. You'll find it. Also-- same with the last skin-- I pulled most of the hierarchy images from my own stash-- send me an angry pm if you want a different one. 8D happy December, peeps! xD

The season is
LATE LEAF-FALL!
The air is growing cold as temperatures plunge and ice frosts the grass. The trees are dropping their leaves in swirls of color, and it's now often freezing at night. Prey is beginning to shut up and hole down in all Clans despite the growing cold, especially in Rapidfalls' Circle, which is still undergoing a severe prey-drought. The sun now tends to hide behind a dense, foggy cloud cover, and chilly breezes keep the air cold and biting. As the season progresses, prey will become even scarcer and snow will not only fall-- but remain and build up. Clan rivalries, far from lessening, are only growing tenser as the reminder of leafbare approaches.

The Rapidfalls Raid is SO ON!!.

november wotm + motm xx Say hello to HAREFOOT!! This old fella' is November's Warrior of the month! This fluffy white-and-earth-colored tom with green eyes and rabbit-like feet is currently Thunderclan's oldest cat. At 92 moons of age, Harefoot has had to watch a lot of his family die and a lot more be born, and while his family ties stretch into Windclan and the loner territories, he himself was born to two pureblooded Tcer's. Harefoot is roleplayed by Hare, and was her first cat that she made. CONGRATS TO HAREFOOT! >:3 WELL LOOK WHO'S OUR NEW MOTM- ope, it's Bloodrose! Blood joined in August, arriving as an unexpected gift right out of the blue to plunk herself down as a joyful new member that has grown into someone certainly deserving of our Monthy Memberite Title! With a scattered handful of entertaining and well-played characters across all four Clans, this kickass Canadian is also known as Bloodeh, Roseh, and Bloodehroseh. Possibly some other stuff too. WOOT for Bloodrose! congrats to hare and blood!

Rainpaw --- to tell the truth I am getting away with murder

Eyes, glazed with a fierce look burned into the grove of the tree, as if there was something there worth fighting. But not even a piece of prey scurried through it's growing limbs. The only visable objects were the fallen red, orange, yellow and brown leaves that littered the ground everywhere as leaf-fall set in for a long stay. The young cat didn't quite mind this season so much as the rest of them, in fact, she might even relish the cold weather and the sun's relinquish of heating so that the days of leaf-bare could creep up on them with snow and rain. She was oddly accepting of such harsh conditions, when in reality, the cat was one of the judgmental ones in her clan. Opinions frequently flew from her ill-tempered mouth and her sharp tongue was almost always the cause of some emotional pain of one feline or another either in her clan or one of the others.

Much like her words, her claws left scars, dealt left and right to whoever seemed to deserve. The largest proof of this was the kit she was killed. Now obviously no one knew, no one other than her sister and foster brother, or else she would have been exiled. But some three moons ago she had killed Oakleaf's last daughter, a young, stupid cat known as Tansykit. How she had done it, she wasn't sure, why, she didn't know either. All she knew was that as wrong as it was, it had felt better than anything else in her life ever had before. The smell of her dark, crimson blood wafting through her open nostrils, the texture of the red liquid mixing with gritty dirt and covering her paws, gushing through her pads and around her white fangs.

A small, barely noticeable grin stole over her vibrant features. Her dark, sunshine eyes glowed with a light that was indescribable. It was almost scary looking, for it certainly wasn't kind. She was bored though, desperately in need of a cat to pick on since her foster brother was not playing her shadow for once in her life. He'd found a female to moon over it seemed, some loner that dear old Riptalon found fit to drag into camp. Rainpaw snorted, ha! She would never say she didn't approve of loners or rogues but, to drag one into camp out of pity? It was unheard of, uncalled for, weak. She could see no inner strength in Riptalon, no matter how he looked. Some found his face frightening but she laughed, she tormented him, chased him through the camp. She remembered one of their earlier encounters. She had wanted to talk, to hear the tale of her mother and know what role he played in her death as well as her life. He had cowered away, running to the medicine cat's den like a scared kittypet!

Just as she lifted her legs, deciding, oh why not climb the dang tree, a sound spooked her. Ok that isn't the right term here. She was merely surprised there was someone near. She sniffed at the air but to the best of her abilities could not figure out exactly who it was. Was she really that out of touch with her clan? Huh. Well one thing was for sure, it was a Thunderclan cat. Oh joy, this shall be fun, she thought to herself. Finally someone to pick at and annoy the hell out of. Just what she needed to make her day sunny! Ah, it just warmed her little, beating heart to see others in pain. Odd when you really thought about it of course, most cats didn't think this way, see this way. They would cry if they saw a friend bleeding out their life on the ground. Ok maybe she would be a bit upset if this cat could be called friend to her, for she had very few friends. The only one she admitted to caring about one bit was her surviving sister Cinderpaw. She loved her simply for that fact that she was her sister, her real flesh and blood sister. Roughpaw and Burningpaw were only foster siblings, so why should she give a hoot about them? Yes deep, deep, deeeep down she did but she denied it feverishly.

Just than she remembered, there was someone near! “Come out come out whoever it is.” she chanted.

SPECKLESPOT

.:A small, brown wood mouse scurried among the leaves, collecting food before leaf-bare completely set in. Its little pinkish legs were going as fast as possible. Scuttling to a tree there, hiding under a bush here, simply trying to stay out of other animals' ways. Little did it know, it was being followed. Behind it, a few cat-tails away sat a white tortoiseshell with orange and black spots. The yellow eyes of the feline gazed intently at the mouse. Prey was still running decently for the Clan, but the tom knew that wouldn't last much longer. This plump mouse would serve as a great addition to the fresh-kill pile.

.:Specklespot crouched closer to the ground, in a crouch that only most ThunderClanners knew how to do right. His hunter's crouch was practically perfect, having been practiced for twelve out of the eightteen moons of his life. Then, when the scent of the mouse and warm flesh was too much to bear, he being so close, he pounced. Mid-leap, his claws extended as far as they could possibly reach. The mouse turned as soon as it heard the rustle that Specklespot's jump had made, but it was too late for it to run anywhere. Specklespot made his mark, and he quickly made a quick nip to the mouse's neck. The tortoiseshell smiled at his catch. He picked it up in his jaws, and prepared to go back to camp.

.:The smile that had spread across the tom's face had been a rare sight in camp lately. Specklespot had been rather depressed after his father, Sandfur, died, and he had wanted revenge. His attitude towards everything changed, and he was pretty sure he had lost the few friends he had. His anger had pushed everyone away, and his cries in the forest for Sandfur were rather eerie. Specklespot's father's death had been about a moon ago, and now the tortoiseshell was trying to move on. He hoped to regain his friends back, and he was fairly sure they would want a less distressed kitty. This hunt was the first one in a moon where he had actually caught something.

.:Specklespot tried his best to be quiet as he went through the leaves, but the crunchiness of the red, brown, orange, and yellow debris that covered the ground was hard to control. Specklespot was sure that even those deaf ShadowClan cats could probably hear him now. As he stopped near a tree for a moment to scratch a particularly annoying itch on his back left leg, he heard a voice call, "Come out come out whoever it is." Specklespot tensed, but then his muscles relaxed when he scented ThunderClan. It was just one of his clanmates. He picked up the mouse and headed in the general direction from where the sound had come.

.:Specklespot saw her first thing, but what he thought he saw was different than what was actually there. "Stoneflower?" he asked, looking rather confused. But then his sight focused in, and he realized it was just Rainpaw, her daughter. Rainpaw looked remarkably like her mother. The pretty, gray fur and the small stature, as well as almost every other feature shouted out Stoneflower to Specklespot. He trotted over to her, set the mouse down and then apologized, "Sorry, Rainpaw. You look so much like your mother." He felt rather embarrassed for getting the two of the mixed up, especially when one of them was dead.

Rainpaw ---- and I'm addicted to your punishment

A bird crowed in the distance, giving no warning but instead a song of sorts. The day seemed to echo with that blue jay’s voice, repeating his both beautiful and ghostly call in the heads of many. It wings were ruffled, sitting up there in the tree with the wind stirring throughout the lands. Its break seemed broken, forced to stay open either out of habit or pressure from a different, un-seeable presence. Other creatures seemed to stray away from it and its odd demeanor. Rainpaw however was curious, also quite a bit more intelligent than most. At least that was what she liked to think. But alas she had other things to deal with and a simple minded piece of prey. There was another cat coming near her, his shape becoming more and more visible as he neared the drab spot of forest she stood upon. At first glance the cat could not possibly recognize the other, not even by scent. She had only run across him twice before. Once during a day out with her sister Cinderpaw and another when her uncle Sandfur had been murdered, the one day she had shed a tear since her mother’s death.

Specklespot, the femme realized once she could make out the colors of his differently painted, tortoiseshell pelt. What a pleasant surprise she thought to herself rather sarcastically. Ay first, the tom seemed confused. He called out his mentor, her mothers, name. Stoneflower. Rainpaw cringed inwardly at the sound because of everything in her life the loss of her mother was the one thing she could not handle, not by any stretch of the imagination. Everyone knew this deep down, and that, that was why she acted so cruel and horrid to others. It was also why, on the deathbed of another she had done nothing but torment those who were grieving. If she couldn’t be happy why should anyone else be? Well that didn’t apply to her sister Cinderpaw, she loved her dearly. Roughpaw however was no more than a nuisance to her. He was always following her around, shadowing her every step. He had even witnessed the fight between her and Tansykit. At least, she thought, he didn’t tell anyone. He helped me cover it up.

After a minute or two of staring at her, he seemed to realize his mistake. It wasn’t the uncommon of an accurance though seeing as she looked identical to her mother except even smaller because she was not yet full grown. ‘Sorry, Rainpaw. You look so much like your mother.’ She snorted, turning her fiery, golden gaze onto him and his now seemingly large body. He wasn’t someone she particularly wanted to converse with, especially not after what had happened before. Still her heart sped up and whispers filled her head. Remember the way you looked at him before? Remember his gaze, how he took in your banter without so much as flinching? The voice wouldn’t shut up, not as long as there was silence so she decided to make some sort of smart remark. “Oh how very clever Specklespot,” she rolled her eyes as she spoke. “You know, perhaps if you had been a better apprentice my mother wouldn’t have needed to wander off and find some loner to mate with.” Ah those words quieted that little voice perfectly, instead she cackled inside, enjoying the torment of this feline. He probably got it worse than other, especially today. Rainpaw was in a foul mood it seemed, ready to nip and pick at whoever stood near.

That unlucky someone. How convenient for her that it was one cat she adored torturing. The only better candidate would have been Riptalon himself. The fool, always running from her and his demons even though he must know that someday she would catch up to him, corner him, and then, it would be on. He had to tell her the story sooner or later and find the strength in his weak body to face the truth. With thoughts of the ugly tom she couldn’t help but see something in Specklespot. He was rather handsome, just lean enough and bulky enough to be considered one of Thunderclan rather than River, Wind or Shadow. Rainpaw scolded herself. She had no time to even mess with hearts in that way, her duty was to become a warrior, leave, and murder those who deserved such a fate. Besides, he was unworthy of such attentions, and so it was such that she buried any trace of affection, hopefully forever, and remained with a mocking look upon her face.

SPECKLESPOT

.:As soon as the tortoiseshell tom had noticed his mistake, the differences between her and her mother became more than obvious, specifically pointing themselves out to Specklespot to show that Rainpaw was not her mother. For one thing, Rainpaw was smaller than Stoneflower, most likely because the gray apprentice probably wasn't done growing yet. She was only an apprentice after all, still not her full size. Perhaps the most defining difference between the two cats was not able to be seen, at least physically. The thing separated the two cats the greatest was their personalities. Stoneflower had been a rather sweet, caring mentor. At least, that was what had shown through when Specklespot was with her. She wasn't always around and their training sessions had been few and far between. Rainpaw, on the other hand, always was in a foul mood. She tortured others with both tongue and claw. She delighted in the miserableness of others. She didn't care about others, at least from what Specklespot had seen and heard of her. Could there be someone, other than her siblings, that she cares about? After thinking about it for a moment, he replied to himself, Nah, she wouldn't. From nearly everyone's point of view, Rainpaw was the sour-puss of ThunderClan. Specklespot really didn't mind, unlike some others who took offense. It was part of her personality, he had decided, and he passed off her taunts like they were jokes.

.:Rainpaw's golden eyes looked like drops of honey almost. But with her fierce and intense gaze, her shiny orbs could have been more likely compared to two small balls of fire, burning any tinge of fur she caught a glimpse of. Specklespot loved how intense they were, though, unlike some others he knew in the warriors' den who dreaded having her near. Maybe he was just odd like that, but growing up without many friends had made him more observant of things, and, excluding parts of his recent depression over his father, he looked upon things with an optimistic outlook. The golden orbs rolled as Rainpaw replied to his apology, "Oh how very clever Specklespot. You know, perhaps if you had been a better apprentice my mother wouldn’t have needed to wander off and find some loner to mate with." Her taunting tone, he knew, was meant to tear him apart or make him have feelings opposite of happiness, but they didn't.

.:Specklespot smiled, and then answered back to her, "I had nothing to do with it. Besides our few training sessions, I hardly ever saw her. Even if I was the worst apprentice in the world, she probably still would have gone off with Trey." He chuckled before adding, "Besides, why would I want her to not have met Trey? If she hadn't met that loner, she wouldn't have had you. Then I wouldn't have been able to experience your sparkling personality." The last sentence was filled with much sarcasm in its tone. As they talked about it, Specklespot tried to imagine what it would have been like if Stoneflower hadn't met Trey after all. Would she have taken a different mate? Would Rainpaw's foster siblings have turned out the same? Perhaps Stoneflower would have been alive to see his apprentice self be warriorized. That would have been nice, for her to be alive during the ceremony, but the tortoiseshell was sure that the tiny gray she-cat would have been watching from StarClan, and that was good enough for him. A lot of cats would be watching him from StarClan now: his father, Sandfur; his aunt, Silverwing; and his mentor, Stoneflower, plus probably many others Specklespot was failing to mention. It surprised the feline that he had lost so many key people in his life at the age of eightteen moons already.

.:Specklespot laid himself down, bending his legs and moving his paws until he was in a comfortable position. While moving, his pelt brushed against the wood mouse he had caught just prior to the conversation between him and Rainpaw. He picked it up in his jaws again, stretching his neck to reach it, and being careful not to squish it inbetween his teeth. Stretching his neck even farther, Specklespot placed his catch directly in front of the apprentice. "Here," he said after he had dropped the prey so he could speak, "this is for you. I can catch more later." The tom himself was slightly hungry, but he fought it off. His clan needed to be fed first. He could wait. His strength didn't entirely depend on it. However, the smells wafting from the mouse tickled his scent glands. He could almost taste the warm, fresh meat on his tongue. Specklespot closed his mouth to block at least part of the smell, and he smiled at Rainpaw.

Rainpaw

I settled down
A twisted up frown disguised as a smile
Well you would've never known
I had it all but not what I wanted
'Cause hope for me was a place uncharted and overgrown

_____________________________________________________

Stoneflower. The thought was simple, but vivid. Her mother had looked exactly like her. Soft, silver fur, bright, golden eyes. So why, were they so different? Her mother had been a kind, care free feline. She was an angry, manipulative, cruel feline. Her claws, sprinkled with dirt, dug deep into the ground. Her face, an almost triangular shape, yet softer, with her fierce eyes, turned up, toward the sky. The air, that seemed tinged with memories, was slowly sucked into her lungs and than released again. Her thoughts had drifted, to a place she normally didn't dare to venture. To a place they called Starclan. Her mother was there. She was watching, she was willing young, naive, Rainpaw to avenge her death. That's what she thought. She sometimes swore she could hear the whispers, soft currents against her ears. She was, of course, dead wrong. Stoneflower watched in dismay as her daughter grew more and more distant and lost heart. She could hardly bare to look sometimes. Perhaps if the cat had known this, she would have stopped, than and there. But her mind was deluded, filled with thoughts of murder.

Snapped out of her moment of peace, she snarled while listening to dear Specklespot. Her sparkling personality huh? She rolled her shoulders, not quite in a shrug, but more of a defiant gesture. She was glad this tom, this weak feline, was not her mentor. She wouldn't learn a thing from the cat! Although... her mother had taught him so there was a chance he was worth a mouse tail. And, oddly enough, like her foster brother Roughpaw, her crude remarks didn't faze him. She didn't know why, and maybe it didn't matter why but they were the only ones that were just about immune somehow.

Immune. Something Tansykit had been far from. Her taunting had spun the she-kit into full out rage. She was surprised drool had not dripped from her jaws when she had lunged. Rainpaw, amused by her memory, chuckled. Stupid, pathetic, worthless, useless piece of fox dung. That was all that kit had been. She'd been doing Thunderclan a favor in ridding them of her.

Unsure of what to say, knowing her remarks would spur nothing inside of Specklespot, she only stared at him, her jaw straight hardened in a way that couldn't quite be placed. Her nose twitched when the tom caught a mouse. A small... but undoubtedly delicious morsel of prey. Already it had become harder to feed the clan, fresh kill becoming more and more sparse. Not that she really cared, but she didn't fancy going to bed with an empty belly. Beyond that, if she was going to get her warrior name before leaving that wretched place, she'd need to do quite a deal of hunting. Coming back with nothing was not smiled upon.

He dropped the mouse in front of her and Rainpaw looked up, genuinely surprised by the gesture. No one shared prey with her, save for Roughpaw but he had a new cat to stalk. Poppy, the rogue. She sneered, her little brother had placed his affections in the wrong cat. For she was sure, as soon as the chance arose, the flea ridden beast would turn on him, and the rest of them too for that matter. Roughpaw would be heartbroken. She stopped herself mid thought. Why should she care if the stupid she-cat hurt his poor little heart? She shouldn't, and so, she didn't... on the surface, or even consciously.

'This is for you.' That was what echoed inside her skull. Why? That was her question. She prodded the dead mouse with her claw once and than turned her sun bright eyes on the tom. “Why? You should by all means hate me.” There it was, a glimpse at her without her cover, without her murderous gaze. Deep down, there was a real feline in there. She'd slipped and let it out. Angry with herself for this she bent her head to take a bite of the fresh-kill. The meat watered in her mouth and she had to admit, it tasted better than anything else could have. Someone had given her prey. Someone.. no she stopped thinking and just ate. Thinking was way to overrated at any rate.

SPECKLESPOT

.:Specklespot smiled at Rainpaw. He watched her, taking in every emotion, every flinch, every shrug of the shoulders, the way her body moved. There was just something about her that was interesting to him, some magnet that drew him in. Perhaps it was her personality, as that was her most defining feature that identified her as Rainpaw, the grumpy foul-mouthed one, that enticed him. Perhaps it was Specklespot's own curiosity to see what laid behind all that fur, her true self, the real cat inside her. Was there a chance that there was a sweet, cheerful, little Stoneflower hidden in her somewhere? Way deep down? Or was her heart as cold and solid as most everyone thought it was, not a single bit of warmth? Maybe he was just imagining it all, maybe it was just an odd phase where he took a special interest in the apprentice before him. Yet, it almost didn't matter the reason. It was what was happening, and he couldn't really stop himself. There was just something about her that he wanted to see and hear more of.

.:Rainpaw had rolled off his sparkling personality comment, and then a second later, she chuckled. Specklespot smiled wider, at first thinking she was chuckling at his sarcasm, but no, there seemed to be too much of a pause inbetween. Specklespot couldn't help but think that she was chuckling about something else, something he couldn't possibly know about. His thoughts turned to his appearance. Did he have something in his teeth? Did his fur look an absolute mess? He turned around, checking himself out. He found one tiny leaf on his back, which he immediately brushed off, but other than that, that was it. No, it couldn't be the way I look. What is she REALLY thinking about? Specklespot was more curious than he had ever been before, even more than when he had been a kit. Specklekit had been a shy, quiet, cautious kit, except on rare occasions when he was only surrounded by close family. Curious feelings didn't really siege him until he was about five moons and started wondering about ThunderClan territory and what it was really like being a warrior. And even then, those feelings weren't as strong as they were now. Again, Specklespot couldn't help but think there was something else about her, something no one really knew.

.:Specklespot was prodded away from his thoughts as Rainpaw responded to him giving her the wood mouse. She stared at it for a moment, and then looking up at him with her golden eyes, she questioned, "Why? You should by all means hate me." Her voice seemed to echo in the air before it took hold on Specklespot.

.:The tortoiseshell's eyes first went wide with shock, and then furrowed into confusion. His head cocked sideways slightly to the left, a habit he had developed over the moons. "What?" he answered. "Why should I hate you?" He let the question hang on the air for a moment. The silence was almost tangible. "I mean, you're related to me after all... as well as half the clan, not to mention you haven't done anything wrong against me. There is no reason why I should hate you." Rainpaw began to eat, and Specklespot's mouth formed his smile again.

.:Specklespot shuffled closer to her, and he really wasn't sure why. He felt like he needed to continue the conversation, but at the moment, he had no idea what to say. For him, the quiet seemed a little awkward, and so he tried to form some sort of question in his mind that would provoke a little speech. He could only come up with one question. However, he almost felt it a little personal. Would she even answer? Would she ignore him? Hate him? Yell at him? But it was all he had. He blurted it out before he could think any further. "Why are you so unwilling to get close to anybody?" Specklespot flexed his claws, digging at the dirt, hoping she wouldn't take offense at the question.

OOC: I LOVE THIS RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RAIN AND SPECKLE! ;D You know, Speckle does have this weird disorder where he can't contribute to kits, or in other words, his mate won't be able to have kits unless she mates someone else. So really, they could mate even though they're related. There wouldn't be any cross-breeding, because they couldn't have kits. Just an idea, they don't have to be lovers, but it would be awesome. ;D
