Now training was probably a very good thing for future warriors to have, but what happens when a warrior with a new apprentice knows actually nothing about training? Well, in Suntail's case, his mentor, the Thunderclan Leader Elkstar, was busy everyday, and as an apprentice, Suntail spent all his time in camp doing nothing, and just wandering. He never had any real training, but he had watched other warriors train their apprentices and he had a vague idea of what to do. But the question remained; how would he train an apprentice when he never recieved any training himself?

Suntail's eyes flickered in the semi-darkness of a moonlit morning, with the soft sun rising defiantly in the background, chasing the moon away from its perch high in the sky. The surrounding trees and bushes lit up with dancing flames and shadows as the sun rose higher, still Suntail's illusive shadowed form, stayed ahead of the sun's rays. Then finally, when the sun reached him, it turned his pelt to light, burning bright and hot, threatening to overpower the sun itself.

He was still running, even after the sun had hit his pelt and all the shadows recedded. His bright cream paws seemed to skip over the earth like a soft breeze. He started to forget for a second that he was in the forest and was going to the place he himself had only been to a few times. He even forgot that he was here for something he deemed unimportant. As soon as he remember what it was that he was here for, he stopped dead in his tracks and whipped his head around to make sure his new apprentice was still following. "Frostedpaw? Uhh.. you still there little buddy?" For a second, he wasn't sure where the apprentice was, was he still following? or had he been slowed down? Suntail was feeling a bit worried, he hadn't meant to start running, but it was just the morning air, and the combined feelings of his mopiness... Oh, he hoped Frostedpaw was still there somewhere in the shadows..

Maybe he was going to be a bad mentor, someone who taught his apprentice absolutely nothing at all and then left him to train his future apprentice with no knowledge.. Afterall thats what Elkstar had done to Suntail. But right now, Suntail needed to get his head out of the past and into the future. It had been a long time since Elkstar was his mentor and a long time since he lost his sister, maybe it was time ot start getting over things instead of letting them fester in his heart? But what if he forgot her? would she hate him for that?

The sun-colored tom sat down on the sandy ground with a plop and there he sat, waiting and htinking. His thoughta were so jumbled up, so tightly coiled around his head that he didn't know whether to scream or to cry. So many things had him getting angry and so many more had him feeling blue. But then a thought hit him, and he couldn't help but look around for the apprentice he never really wanted in the first place. What if I focus on this to take my mind of everything else?

Anxiety welled up from deep in his stomach, turning to acidic fear and uneasiness, but even as he felt the bile rise at the back of his throat, he forced himself to stay calm and to swallow back his fear. He needed to be focused, even if he didn't want to train an aprpentice yet. Frostedpaw was still his apprentice, and he needed to treat him as more than his brother. He had a duty to make him the best warrior in the clan.... But how was he going to do that?

The older tom blinked in relief as the kit he always knew as weak finally came into the clearing where Suntail had stopped. Even as he watched the little tom looking around in wonder, Suntail couldn't help but feel worry, so much worry that seemed to drown everything else out. He had lost confidence in pretty much everything since his sister had died, but maybe this would change things, force him ot feel confident once more?

The sun burned bright, shining harshly through the trees as it climbed higher in the sky, and even in the shade, Suntail was sweating. He almost never got out for excerise after he had gotten sick, plus he never really got out in the first place as an apprentice.. Great Starclan! How this is going to change things.. He felt a little, nervous, unprepared, he didn't know what to do first, and he was practically confused when his apprentice piped up and asked what they were going to do first.. It left him scrammbling for an asnwer inside his clumped up mind. "Umm.. Well.." Suntail thought for a moment, his mind working as he narrowed his eyes and flicked his tail back and forth. "Okay then, we could start with either techniques or I could show you the territory..?" He gave a weak smile, "But only one for today, tomorrow we can start on the other. Hows that sound?"

How am I going to get through this? What was he going to do when they had to start delving into the things Suntail hadn't learned? Such a dilema! But there was one thing.. "Hey, maybe we can go and ask if Cloudpaw and her mentor would like to train with us?" IT was a great idea, but hopefully they wouldn't say no. "We could pick a couple days out of the next moon to do somehting like that!" Suntail's ears pricked up and his face brightened. Maybe I won't make such a bad mentor afterall?

It was the eagerness of his new apprentice at the mear name of their sister that caused Suntail to start snickering quietly, then, at Frostedpaw's energetic "let's go it!!" Suntail let out a booming laugh and threw his head back and let the laugh resound against the trees. It came back to them with a vibrating call that ruffled the leaves. At once, all the anxiousness that the tom had been feeling dissipated into a slowly throbbing ache. Surely they would go and ask Cloudpaw to train with them sometime, but right now, since it was their first outing, they were going to do things by them selves. Suntail had a lot to show the little cat and he also had a lot to learn from him to. Frostedpaw was sweet and innocent, but it seemed that all the talent that was usually in the family was hidden. Despite that, he was like the total opposite of another one in the family, which also proved that not all the cats in their lineage were sweet, talented and brave. Goldenpaw had been nothing but evil and cold-hearted towards everyone. She was nothing like anyone else, so she must have gotten it from someone else. Nobody really counted her as family anyways. Evil little thing. Suntail shuddered at her memory.

The yellow tom's whiskers twitched in amusement when he realized something, Frostedpaw had yet to answer him, "You little twerp, you never told me which you wanted to- we will get Cloudpaw to train with us soon, but right now, lets focus on you okay? So which one is it? Would you like to train or would you like to see the territory? I could who's you a few good hiding places.." Suntail smiled, a bit embarrassed to be saying that he knew good hiding places. But since he had had nothing to do when he was an apprentice besides train himself and look around at all the other happy apprentices, he had worked away the time by finding other things to do. Elkstar never had time to train him so he just threw Suntail into pointless battles and let him listen in on business things. It had been boring to put it lightly, but he wanted to make this fun for Frostedpaw, so that he wouldn't end up the same way, and surely with time, maybe Frostedpaw would find his talent like the rest of the family. Suntail still felt a bit anxious though, he wasn't sure if he was cut out for this. He would try though.

Suntail took a few steps towards Frostedpaw with a soft smile set upon his face and his eyes narrowed thoughtfully. Frostedpaw's answer on what he wanted to do wasn't troublesome per-say, but having not been treated to the same kindness as an apprentice; the sunny-hued tom didn't know his way around very well, except for his hiding places. "Well, to the north a bit is a good place to hide.. But how about I take you around the borders first?" Suntail gave another weak smile before turning around, pushing his nose high in the air and giving a big sniff. Shadowclan is father away, there is Riverclan... Windclan.. Riverclan it is then.

"Hey little guy? How 'bout you give a sniff too, try to scent out the clans yourself then we'll head over to the Riverclan border." Suntail was trying hard to remember his way around the territory without losing his way; he didn't want to make a fool of himself on their first outing.
