Summerpaw

Heat prickled under her fur as she mumbled her excuse, feeling the stifling heat of embarrassment. Inching away from the siblings, she looked downat the grass as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. Her throat went dry as she searced for the words that would take the unwanted attention away. However, she found herself in an unusual place, where her voice had disappeared. Shrinking visibly, she tried to pull herself together, but she was unable to do so. She felt Leechpaw's gaze resting on her, and refused to look up. But surprise surprise, he did not make her feel worse about coming to say hello.

Well, I hear Swiftpaw's got a thing for Icedstar "A little old for you, isn't he?" The taunting reply slipped from his maw, making her lift her head to see his expression. It was not as timid as before and she found herself suppressing a giggle, for that was something she would say to Winterpaw. Grinning , she sat up straighter and flattened the fur she had unconcsiously fluffed out. "Nice one Leechpaw," she whispered cheerfully. She decided he was a good friend, her favorite of the apprentices she had met so far, even if he was only one of them for a few more moments. Hopefully, with his higher status, she could still pal around with him, which she intended to do. Oh yes, any excuse to escape Winterpaw was a good one.

Waiting
In the calm of desolation
Wanting to break
From this circle of confusion

Tigerkit let his mind wander as more members of the clan merged into the clearing. He was only really half listening to the conversations around him, while the other part of his mind prosessed each individule member of the Clan. At the moment he was studying Riverstone, his orange eyes travling over the tom in a slow measured gaze. The different colours present fascinated him and he was quite satisfied. That is until something broke through his thoughts. With a snap his eyes were clouded over, almost like he was suddenly distracted. A somewhat salty and sweet smell assaulted his sensitive nose and he was left floundaring for an explanation.

"What?" He meowed out loud, his babish voice soft and hardly audible. what is that, what? I don't understand, what is that smell?.....I've smelt it before....almost like blood? The striped tabby kit turned his head, searching the crowd with wide orange orbs. They were filled with clear astound horror, and something that wasn't understandible to even himself. Finally they landed upon the cat that had just entered the clearing, someone that Tigerkit had only just recently learned about. However the small tabby didn't sit and dwell on the new warrior, although the amount of blood on him left Tigerkit nervous. Instead he let his eyes fall to the midnight black pelt that lay so still. Why isn't he moving? Something isn't right...he shouldn't be so very still.

"Why," He squeaked out, to the tomcat beside him. He couldn't get more than one word out, for he felt a little dazzed. Tigerkit couldn't seem to fully process the situation, whether from the fact that he'd never seen death before or just simply from the astonishment he felt. Slowly Tigerkit shook his head, trying to block the sudden rush of emotions that he flet. He began to take quick short breaths and rose to his feet. Before he could move though he had to swallow the bile that rose in his mouth, the sweet yet salty taste that wafted from the still cat. It was overpowering yet he still to a shaky step forward. Trying desperatly to dig his claws into the ground as he moved, mostly because Tigerkit's limbs shook so badly. What happened? So much red, so much blood! No movement, no breath! Tigerkit couldn't seem to think straight, as his mind began to process the situation in front of him. Then a sudden sharp breath of air could be heard from the small kit. It was almost like a squeak of surprise, or maybe of recognition. Although he'd never seen something like this before he knew it was wrong. Maybe it was instinct but somehow Tigerkit suddenly understood that something was very wrong. Slowly he came to a stop almost inbetween Riverstone and Aloofgaze. Slowly he processed what he could see, and smell and let his feeling wash over him. So many of them were chaotic but it wasn't fear he felt but rather something akin to anxiety. However, another feeling was dominating, something that Tigerkit recognized as guilt. Why he felt guilty he couldn't begin to ponder, maybe it was something to do with the feelings seemingly rolling from Aloofgaze. He looks so very sad, does this mean I should feel sad too?

"Is he hurt?" Tigerkit directed the question at Aloofgaze this time, although he wasn't very close to him. The anxiety and guilt seemed to double in size, almost chocking him. Tears blurred his vision and he didn't even know why he was crying. The agonizing feeling grew in his chest, and it left him feeling suddenly weak. Like he had lost control of something he had mastered, and sudden fear enveloped him. "What h-happened?"
