Psst... hey... guess what? XD OH, A SKIN CHANGE! Well, my friends, for the month of december I have made a gift for you <3 haha. Now, since you're all still on Silence and I can't even imagine the degree of strangeness that it looks like right now, you need to go quick into your profiles and change it to this month's dandy theme, which has nothing to do with christmas or winter, because I'm a rebel like that xD. The skin's called... uh... -racks brains- well, something about toads. You'll find it. Also-- same with the last skin-- I pulled most of the hierarchy images from my own stash-- send me an angry pm if you want a different one. 8D happy December, peeps! xD

The season is
LATE LEAF-FALL!
The air is growing cold as temperatures plunge and ice frosts the grass. The trees are dropping their leaves in swirls of color, and it's now often freezing at night. Prey is beginning to shut up and hole down in all Clans despite the growing cold, especially in Rapidfalls' Circle, which is still undergoing a severe prey-drought. The sun now tends to hide behind a dense, foggy cloud cover, and chilly breezes keep the air cold and biting. As the season progresses, prey will become even scarcer and snow will not only fall-- but remain and build up. Clan rivalries, far from lessening, are only growing tenser as the reminder of leafbare approaches.

The Rapidfalls Raid is SO ON!!.

november wotm + motm xx Say hello to HAREFOOT!! This old fella' is November's Warrior of the month! This fluffy white-and-earth-colored tom with green eyes and rabbit-like feet is currently Thunderclan's oldest cat. At 92 moons of age, Harefoot has had to watch a lot of his family die and a lot more be born, and while his family ties stretch into Windclan and the loner territories, he himself was born to two pureblooded Tcer's. Harefoot is roleplayed by Hare, and was her first cat that she made. CONGRATS TO HAREFOOT! >:3 WELL LOOK WHO'S OUR NEW MOTM- ope, it's Bloodrose! Blood joined in August, arriving as an unexpected gift right out of the blue to plunk herself down as a joyful new member that has grown into someone certainly deserving of our Monthy Memberite Title! With a scattered handful of entertaining and well-played characters across all four Clans, this kickass Canadian is also known as Bloodeh, Roseh, and Bloodehroseh. Possibly some other stuff too. WOOT for Bloodrose! congrats to hare and blood!

back off, I'll take you on, headstrong to take on anyone

Her glass, blue eyes glittered with excitement. Today would be her first training session! Actually she had raced out of camp before her mentor had even had time to catch up with her. That was the thing though, Cloudpaw had tons of energy and she was more than ready to start. Her ceremony had been moons late after all. She was already eleven moons and just not starting to get any training! She wrinkled her nose, well she would show all of them just what a fine warrior she'd turn into! That had always been her goal, to make her family proud of her, especially her father Harefoot. It was hard to stand out when you had so many siblings, especially one that was the clan's medicine cat. Now Cloudpaw wasn't jealous or anything, just eager to show how hard she could work, and how badly she wanted this. The life of a warrior was everything she could ever ask for. She even doubted she would ever have a mate because she couldn't stand the idea of being cooped up in the nursery with kits. She had no idea how her mother put up with it! Silverwing just missed out on everything!

Her whiskers twitched while she pranced in place, awaiting Ivywhisker. She wasn't too fond of other she-cats you see, but some of them, had proved to be good warriors and that was what earned Cloudpaw's respected. Her mentor seemed alright, but the female she respected more than any other was Sunsetstain. She'd always seemed like a strong, hard working warrior to her. Now as far as toms went, she got along with almost all of them well. She was a tom-boy after all. The only one that really irked her nerves was that Badgerpaw! He was always saying something that made her want to spit in his face an walk away. But if that was so, why did she feel such an attraction toward him? Ugh, she shook her head, those thoughts could wait forever for all she cared. Right than, she wanted nothing more than to learn battle moves, stalking techniques, anything that would help her on her path to become one of the greatest warriors in Thunderclan! Cloudpaw smiled, her paws still kneading at the ground. Oh how long she had waited for this! She twirled in a circle, even on a normal day she had plenty of energy, but on that day in particular she was bundles full. Nothing in the world could bring her down! Not even her rude sister Brightpaw. A laugh bubbled from her throat at the thought. She was simply giddy with excitement.

Cloudpaw sighed, she didn't want to settle down, even though she should. She didn't want to scare her mentor off on the first day...right? So she tried to sit and wait by the great tree, her tail tip twitching constantly. She felt like it had been hours but really, it had been less than a few minutes since she left the camp.

Her mind slowly began to drift away, wondering what her 'twin' brother, Frostedpaw was doing. Maybe she should have asked if he could come along for her training? His mentor was their older brother, Suntail and she had to say, he hadn't looked pleased about getting an apprentice. She shrugged, oh well, he'd just have to deal with it. Still she hoped she get to do at least a little bit of stuff with her brother. Out of all her siblings, she shared a closer bond with him than anyone else. He was her best friend, even if they were polar opposites. He was shy and quiet, she bubbly and quite loud. That was alright though because that was why she loved her brother so much. He was just him, he never pretended or tried to be anyone other than himself. Cloudpaw was like that too of course. She was friendly, and made friends easily, but only because she was herself. She never liked boasting unless it was very much worth it, like say should she catch a rabbit the size of herself! Well that would be something to talk about, but she wouldn't carry on for days about it. That was just so annoy! At least to her. She'd seen how some of the newer warriors and older apprentices acted and she hated it. Everyone was a part of the clan and everyone played an important part! Well sure she couldn't see what was so great about being a queen, but hey that was just her.

ivywhisker

Ivywhisker walked slowly out of camp as she followed her apprentice's scent. She was excited yet nervous at the same time. She hoped her apprentice would like her, and she hoped she wouldn't mess up around her apprentice. Today she was going a little bit blank on everything, she hoped it wouldn't be that way when she got to Cloudpaw. That's why she was taking her time, so she could gather her thoughts as she walked.

She let out a happy sigh as she walked along, she loved going on walks. She would have to wait until later to continue it though, Cloudpaw was her main priority at the moment. She sped up her pace a bit as she recognized where the scent was leading to. The Sycamore tree! She always loved that place, it was a nice place to just lay around and relax under the shade of the tree. There was prey around there sometimes too.

She walked towards Cloudpaw, her eyes full of excitement now. All the nervousness had vanished on the way there, thank goodness. She thought she got everything down in her head that Cloudpaw would need to know. It wasn't like she was going to teach her everything in one day either, they had plenty of time. She said, "Hey Cloudpaw!" She went over and sat across from Cloudpaw. Her tail wrapped neatly around her and she then asked, "It's getting kinda nice out now, isn't it?" Some conversation before the training wouldn't hurt anyone.

Needling, white long grasses moved in the breeze and prodded through the still thick winter coat of the brutish looking tomcat with a face that was twisted with planned cruelties. Badgerpaw was trekking through the forest, outside of camp, in hot pursuit of Cloudpaw, the white she-cat who had been giving him trouble ever since the pair had met.

Teeth bared, Badgerpaw's mind worked to come up with something to do to her. The oaken tabby knew for a fact that Cloudpaw wanted to become a warrior - a great warrior - at all costs. He also knew that she had gone out of camp on this particularly brisk day to go hunt with her mentor. What he planned to do was simple. He planned to make a fool out of Cloudpaw in front of her mentor. The only problem was how he was going to do it. Badgerpaw decided that the best thing for him to do would be to wing it.

Pausing about halfway to his destination, Badgerpaw opened his jaws. Where had her scent gone? It appeared that she had just ... disappeared. Angrily, Badgerpaw began to kick up dirt. He was no good at scenting; in fact, he was no good at most apprentice-like activities. Being an apprentice had never particularly interested the brown tabby tomcat, but in his recent bouts of terror upon Cloudpaw, his main target, he realized how much he needed it. How could he possibly terrorize the innocent if he couldn't keep a scent? Maybe ... Maybe he needed to get together with his mentor, Sunwho's-his-face for a few lessons. Maybe he could become a warrior while he was at it. Closing his jaws, Badgerpaw found her scent once more and began to move, with more haste, to his destination.

It wasn't long before Badgerpaw saw Cloudpaw. This wasn't an easy task - Cloudpaw didn't exactly stick out like a sore thumb, did she? Her ivory pelt blended too well with the winter white scenery. Glancing around, Badgerpaw could not find Cloudpaw's mentor. for a moment, Badgerpaw became concerned. Had Cloudpaw's mentor told her to come out here and then ditched her? The scum! Badgerpaw's honey hued eyes were two-toned as they stared over at Cloudpaw; one portion of them shone with contempt and hatred, the other with sympathy for the lack of her mentor. Pausing, Badgerpaw became unsure of his next move. If Cloudpaw's mentor was not present, his plan was rather ruined, wasn't it?

Maybe he would just harass the white she-cat, instead. Yes, he would do what he usually did.

Coming over to Cloudpaw, Badgerpaw's face twisted into a snarl. "Hey, look, the baby is out of the nursery!" Badgerpaw called, his brown tabby tail twisting with his high levels of emotional confusion. He wanted to go and make fun of her, but at the same time his levels of sympathy made Badgerpaw want to go over to her and talk nice to her ... and keep her company until her mentor did arrive.

Shaking his head, Badgerpaw began to laugh. Something must be wrong with his head -- he had never cared about anyone before ... had he? Badgerpaw stopped his taunting movements briefly, as he recalled a certain she-cat. She had been the prettiest she-cat he'd ever seen. He cared for her a whole lot. Then she had gone and killed herself. Badgerpaw wasn't exactly sure why she'd done such a thing. Maybe when he, too, was dead and gone, he'd ask her.

He resumed his hateful taunt. His salmon pink tongue poked its way out of his jaws and he let several barks of hard, taunting laughter.

l-o-v-e is just another word I never learned how to pronounce

Cloudpaw waited silently for her mentor, but suddenly a different scent hit the roof of her mouth. She took another sniff at that air... it was familiar, but not one of her siblings. Badgerpaw! That nosy, rude ball of fluff! She wrinkled her nose, great, what was he doing out here? He never did any training with her uncle Sandfur, so she had no clue why he'd be out in the forest. For a moment, her better nature took over. He could just be trying to do some good and hunt for the clan. The though quickly dissolved, and she snorted, him want to help? Yeah right, the only thing that tom did was lay around in camp, eat, sleep and torture other cats. She seemed to be one of his main targets actually. Why that was... well it probably had to do with her little retort the first time they ever spoke to each other. She'd been Cloudkit than, and for some reason his comment had made her blood boil. Of course she had her own to spring right back at him. She chuckled at the memory, ok so she was a bit of a hot head, oh well, she never hurt anyone! At least she never meant to, where as she was sure Badgerpaw wanted to cause her pain. She shook her head, well, she'd just have to make sure she didn't let him get to her from now on!

As she sat there, his scent grew stronger. Was he following her? The she-cat's silver-stripped pelt prickled and she jumped to her paws. Her whiskers twitched as she whipped her tail from side to side. So he wanted to play did he? She waited, wondering when he'd show himself. Suddenly he was in her face, snarling. 'Hey look, the baby is out of the nursery!' Flames flickered in her glass, blue eyes at his taunting words. “Well excuse me Mr. lazy fur, but unlike you I actually plan on becoming a warrior before I'm thirty moons old!” Cloudpaw smirked, he would not get the best of her, not ever.

And than, that obnoxious tom stuck his tongue out at her. She glared at him but than decided to blow it off. “Now who's the baby huh?” She rolled her eyes as he laughed. He wasn't going to interfere with her training. She just wouldn't let it happened.

The winds picked up as they stood there, Cloudpaw still staring down Badgerpaw with her pretty eyes. The large tree barely rocked at all with the breezes but the branches trembled ever so slightly and a few of the now greening leaves fluttered to the ground. For just a second, a sense of calm settled over her. The forest all smelled brand new, like suddenly that whole leaf-bare had never happened. Ok sure there was still a tiny bit of snow on the ground but that never bothered her much. And everything smelled... clean, like oh I don't know, just so different than it had moons again. It had rained a lot more lately as well, contributing to the earthy smells. She liked it, and though she had only been alive long enough to experience leaf-bare and now new-leaf, she figured this would reamain her favorite time of the year forever. It was just so wow! And that was a lot coming from her. Normally, she didn't notice what one would call beauty. She was more of a tom-boy, not much for stopping to smell the roses. She usually choose to wrestle and what not.

There was a small snap of a twig and she quickly turned around, her eyes searching for the source before she realized she could scent her mentor, Ivywhisker. She was there! Cloudpaw felt as though she had been waiting forever but really, it hadn't been so very long at all. A smile suddenly wiped away all the unpleasant thoughts of Badgerpaw. She was going to start her training! The tip of her tail twitched, excitement pulsing through her body. She threw a quick glance to Badgerpaw, an for just one second she felt bad. Maybe she'd been a little to harsh, but wait, he deserved it didn't he? She wasn't sure why she had been so happy to share her moment of becoming an apprentice with him. I mean she had ran over there and actually said something nice to the rude tom. Why? She wasn't sure. Maybe she felt pity for him... maybe something else. She shook her head, emotions could be so mind boggling! She shook her head, turning her attention over to her mentor as she approached. “Yep the forest is so alive now!” She replied, remembering her earlier thoughts of how beautiful everything seemed to be. New-leaf certainly was amazing! Cloudpaw grinned, glancing between her mentor and....well whatever she was to call him. Not enemy but not quite friend, Badgerpaw.

Badgerpaw's eyes lazily drifted over Cloudpaw's pelt as she snapped back a comeback. 'Well excuse me Mr. lazy fur, but unlike you I actually plan on becoming a warrior before I'm thirty moons old!' The tomcat's lazy yellow gaze shifted away from Cloudpaw and a laugh escaped his jaws because of her words. Mr. Lazy fur? That wasn't exactly a new nickname for Badgerpaw, but it didn't cease to rock him with laughter for whatever reason. If he truly was a 'lazy fur' then he wouldn't go to such an extense to make her life miserable, would he? Shaking his head and closing his eyes, Badgerpaw decided that it would be best to leave this retort unsaid.

His frenemy had left Badgerpaw unsure of a comeback. Badgerpaw's thoughts were usually supple with plenty of retorts, but she always left him come-back-less. Maybe this was why he hated her so much. Because he always was left comebackless and he was simply waiting for the day that he finally left her speechless before going away.

The brown tabby tom shook his head again and he illuminated a possible comment. It wasn't a comeback - or if it was, it was a pretty useless one. "Yeah? Well, as a matter of fact, I plan to go training with my mentor tomorrow morning, bright and early," Badgerpaw replied and snorted hatefully. The tomcat hadn't actually planned this meet with his mentor, so technically this comment was a lie. But Badgerpaw honestly wanted her words to cease; he hated feeling embarrassed because he was comeback-less.

Badgerpaw's gaze flickered over as Ivywhisker seemed to appear out of nowhere. As long as she was here, Badgerpaw figured that he'd have to be good. Padding over to Cloudpaw's mentor, Badgerpaw's face twisted into one of sweetness and innocence. Not many of the cats in ThunderClan knew him as being sweet or friendly, but the tomcat hoped that he could pull it off. "Can I come and train with you two?" Badgerpaw asked, tilting his head to the side and smiling his most genuine smile ever.

A plan was formulating in the brown tabby's mind. Badgerpaw had gotten a moon's worth of training; this had been enough for him to learn a perfect hunter's crouch and some fighting moves. If they went hunting, Badgerpaw figured that he could catch some prey and watch his friend/enemy fail completely at the apprentice duty of hunting. If they went fighting, Badgerpaw hoped with all his heart that the two might be pitted against each other for a 'playfight' to help with training. The large tom knew that he would beat her to a pulp.

Wouldn't that teach her a lesson not to ever give the tom a response for any insult that came out of his mouth? Badgerpaw hoped it would, so she'd become just another victim, defenseless to his insults.

What Badgerpaw didn't realize was that the reason he had picked her as the primary victim to his insults was that she was the only one who ever fought back. Cloudpaw was special.

IVYWHISKER

Ivywhisker smiled and nodded to Cloudpaw. She couldn't wait until the cold weather was gone for the season. There would be more prey and she could take more walks. She loved listening to birds chirping in the trees. Laying around in the shade sounded good too... well when it came to the weather becoming nicer.

She then noticed another cat by Cloudpaw. She thought she might have seen him around before, she didn't really know him though. She wondered how long he had been here. She then said to him, "Well, you can if its ok with your mentor." She didn't want to get in trouble with his mentor or have his mentor worrying where Badgerpaw was.

She began to wonder what to do if Badgerpaw did come along with them. They could probably hunt... or fighting moves, they could probably do anything really. Fighting moves sounded kind of fun at the moment. It would help her wake up a bit and plus she hadn't practiced them in awhile either... but that might be a bad thing too. Messing up in front of the apprentices would be really embarrassing.

She looked from Cloudpaw to Badgerpaw. They seemed to know each other, and what she had seen when she arrived that they seemed to get along ok. All she needed was two apprentices getting in a fight or anything, not like that would happen but still. Ivywhisker always thought everything over a little too much. She worried over stuff way too much. Sometimes that could be a good thing and sometimes it could be a bad thing.

The brown tabby moved to sit next to Cloudpaw and look directly at Cloudpaw's mentor, Ivywhisker. a look of false respect pooled into his amber eyes as she spoke. 'Well, you can if its ok with your mentor.' Ivywhisker said and Badgerpaw rolled his eyes. The brown tabby had hardly met his mentor, nor could he even remember the tomcat's name. Badgerpaw didn't figure that he'd care that he went with Ivywhisker and Cloudpaw. Did his mentor even remember his existence or that he needing to be training his apprentice? Badgerpaw illuminated this thought and left it moments later, ADHD taking hold and his mind returning to his plan which he realized to be most definitely working.

Clearing his throat, Badgerpaw realized that he had not yet spoken. Grinning, Badgerpaw made a casual 'pshh,' with his lips and nodded vigorously. "I'm positive it is okay with my mentor," Badgerpaw said confidently, his amber eyes, brimming with mischief, looking away from Ivywhisker and to the large, spanning canopy of leaves that was above them. The great sycamore's name was rightly given; the giant tree's branches covered the sun and the sky all around him. The brown tabby would've thought the the branches were part of the sky, if it wasn't for the sky that peaked through the tree's leaves.

The tomcat stood up and looked almost impatient for the next part of his plan to come into action. His excitement for his plan was had to cover up, so the tomcat didn't bother to disguise it. Badgerpaw figured that every apprentice his age would get excited about training. It looked normal enough for him to be enthusiastic and ready to go. Any cat who really knew Badgerpaw would know that he rarely got excited about much of anything and would know that he was up to something.

Gazing at Ivywhisker, Badgerpaw decided that she didn't think of the brown tomcat as nothing more than an apprentice. She didn't know him well. She would pass off his excitement as normal. Wincing, the tomcat glanced at Cloudpaw, his heart racing. She'd know that he was up to something, but it wouldn't matter. Clearing his throat, the brown tomcat spoke up. "Soooo, what are we going to learn today?" Badgerpaaw asked, his voice slightly high-pitched and quavering with overwhelming excitement. Oh boy, Badgerpaw thought, grinning before taking off, racing past Ivywhisker and Cloudpaw in the direction of the sycamore base. Running fast, the tomcat found himself tripping amongst the overgrown tree's roots and barely catching himself before he actually fell.

Settling down amongst the roots, the dirt, and the occasional fallen leaf, Badgerpaw sat, wearing a stupid, sheepish look on his face and a blood-curdling, mischievous one underneath it. He awaited Ivywhisker's reply more than eagerly.

Even white clouds can erupt when provoked

Cloudpaw waited for another taunt from Badgerpaw. Why did he have to insist upon tormenting her. Out of all the days to harass me why pick my first training session. "Yeah? Well, as a matter of fact, I plan to go training with my mentor tomorrow morning, bright and early," She almost burst out laughing. Him waking up early was like a vole flying. It wasn`t going to happen. Surely her mentor didn`t believe him. Hadn`t she noticed him sleeping in the apprentices den or lounging under High Rock? Although perhaps I should let him get away with that statement. It has to be embarrasing knowing that your more of a burden then a blessing to your clan,or maybe its a joke to him. Then she realized that he hadn`t had a comeback. She was about to smirk at him in victory when spoke again. Can I come and train with you two? "That set her off. Why was he trying to come with them and train? He was probably going to try and make her look like a fool. He can`t even pull off a decent pleading smile of innocence. Unbelievable. Yet why do I sort of want him to tag along. Am I loosing it? The fact that he is trying so hard worries me a bit,but there is no way he is going to beat me with whatever he has planned.

Her own plans were beginning to form while she waited her mentors answer. Perhaps she`ll let us fight. Then I can show that lazy furball a thing or two. Maybe then he will find another victim. He wouldn`t stand a chance against me,but I hope I can impress Ivywhisker. I know Badgerpaw is planning something, and if i makes me look bad then my father might find out. She looked around thinking of a way to make Badgerpaw look bad,and thought of the Great Sycamore tree. She silently smiled to herself, but then looking at him again she felt bad,but she wasn`t about to be beaten. She didn`t want her mentor to think her a pain though,so she would have to be careful. Her eyes looked to Ivywhisker when she spoke. "Well, you can if its ok with your mentor. Cloudpaw knew that her uncle wouldn`t send a lump like Badgerpaw out alone, even if he wanted him out of his fur. She felt bad for her mentor. Her first session as a mentor and she was being bothered by Badgerpaw.

She rolled her eyes when he grinned and replied. I'm positive it is okay with my mentor," She couldn`t believe he was getting away with his little scheme. Its so obvious he is lying. He didn`t even say Sandfur`s name once. Does he even know his name? She dug her back claws into the ground so that her mentor wouldn`t see. She could have proven that he was lying then and there, but now she was fully intent on getting a little pay back. Then she watched as Badgerpaw to make his story more believable pranced around like an exciteted kit thats just bitten its first piece of prey. To any other cat that had failed to see his ruse before that would have been a dead give away, but her mentor really didn`t know Badgerpaw. She decided to surprise him,and maybe worry him a bit. She spoke in a sweet and innocent voice. "Can he please train with us. I`m sure his mentor Sandfur had something more important to attend to,and let him join us. Surely Sandfur will fill you in later as to why he invited Badgerpaw to our training session." On the outside she looked completly innocent, but on the inside she was laughing. You may beat me now but your going to get it later. She felt strange though. She felt that she would have asked for him to go with them even if her mentor had said no. "Ivywhisker what did you plan for today?"

Ivywhisker looked at Badgerpaw, debating. She tried to remember who his mentor was but nothing was really ringing a bell. She had never really trained to apprentices either, and she hoped she didn't humiliate herself. Well, it seemed like Badgerpaw and Cloudpaw knew each other, so maybe it wouldn't be so hard to control them... She hoped it was ok with his mentor like he said it probably was. All she needed was to get in trouble with his mentor when she got back. She let out a sigh and said, "Well, I guess you can come along then."

She then turned to Cloudpaw as she seemed to beg to want him to come along. Ok, maybe it wasn't begging, but it seemed like she really wanted him to come along. She guessed there was really no harm about it. It would probably be more fun for both of them to train together. She remembered not that long ago when she was an apprentice. She had always been a bit pressured whenever she was with her mentor. They had just seemed so wise to her and so in control that Ivywhisker didn't like messing up in front of them. She tried to remember if she ever had a friend train with her... oh well.

She then looked at both of them as they asked what they were going to do. She was debating between to things. Either to show them hunting techniques and have a contest, or work on battle moves. She decided to go the easier route and start with hunting. "Well, since there are two of you, I've decided to have a little hunting competition just for the fun of it. I guess whoever catches the most prey wins... I'm not sure if I'm going to have a prize though, if that's ok with you guys." She could always think of a prize, but she couldn't really think of anything. "Well, unless you guys could think of a reasonable prize at least." She went through things in her head, but nothing really popped out to her.

She looked around the Great Sycamore and scented. There seemed to be plenty of prey around. Thank Starclan it was Greenleaf. Leafbare always drove her nuts, she hated the cold with a passion. Also there were barely any prey around, and it was not fun looking for prey in cold, icey weather. The scents of the different prey calmed her nerves for some reason. She scented some mice, a couple rabbits that seemed to have been around not that long ago, and plenty of birds in the trees. She then said, "Well, do you have any questions or anything before you start?"

The brown tabby tomcat sat underneath The Great Sycamore Tree with a smug look on his face, like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. Badgerpaw's near tripping accident had faded from his mind and he was now proud with how well his plan was working. Such impromtu planning deserves praise, Badgerpaw thought, beaming at such an idea. The only praise I'll be getting is praise I give myself. I shouldn't need praise, anyways, no matter how much this plan deserves it. I just need the positive result. Badgerpaw chastised himself, then puffed out his chest at his thoughts. Everything about his plan was perfect, Badgerpaw decided. Except for his acting. Acting, Badgerpaw thought, and suddenly became very aware of the smirk plastered on his jowls. Smirks, though in his nature, were no proper display of excitement for this moment in time. Smirks spoke of unspoken plans and devious thoughts. That smirk was a perfect example of his plan's only flaw. If Ivywhisker saw it against his furry cheeks, she'd know that he was up to something. Badgerpaw didn't question that thought - what he did question was whether she was attentive enough to even see it.

The smirk had only been on his muzzle for a few moments before it was replaced by a more suited expression of excitement and innocence. What plagued Badgerpaw's face was a single, forced line formed by the pressing of his lips together and peeling the ends of them up like a banana. The thing on the ThunderClan apprentice's face was a smile, and it was the only thing in his array of emotions that had never been truly shown. A smile, in Badgerpaw's mind, was a tool of manipulation, and the tomcat had become quite good at mimicking what it was like to geniunely smile. As the tomcat sat there, waiting for one of his two 'groupies' to speak up, the smile that he'd replaced his smirk with became more and more realistic.

By the time anyone actually spoke, Badgerpaw's smile appeared so real that he could feel the bitter taste of innocent happiness at his maw. It wasn't that Badgerpaw hadn't ever felt happy; every cat had been happy at some point, even if it had only been that random, happy-to-be-alive happiness that all kittens felt at some point shortly after birth or after a certain milestone in growth had taken place (eyes opening, first step, etc.) Badgerpaw had been happy, and saught for his happiness every moment of everyday. Happiness was truly the most important thing for the brown tabby tom and he made sure to be happy, even if it caused the sadness of others. Especially if it caused the sadness of others. The smile on the ThunderClanner's face turned wicked for a moment, and a flame of yellow passion burned in his eyes for a moment, before dying down. Badgerpaw found that the misery of other cats was the thing that made him the most happy - as if he made them sad and sucked the happiness right out of them. Badgerpaw admitted to being a little on the sadistic side, in this respect.

Badgerpaw tilted his brown tabby marked head when Ivywhisker spoke up. 'Well, I guess you can come along then.' Cloudpaw's mentor said, speaking with a little hesitancy, as if she knew that she was going to regret something in the future. Badgerpaw didn't care how reluctant IVywhisker was about letting him come along - those words of acceptance were pushing his plan along! Another step in his evil plan had just passed, and the brown tabby knew that he was getting closer and closer to success. The brown tabby could almost taste the success on his tongue, and he savored such a flavorful thing, like honey.

It was Cloudpaw, surprisingly, who spoke up next. What surprised the tomcat more, though, was what Cloudpaw said. 'Can he please train with us? I'm sure his mentor Sandfur had something more important to attend to,and let him join us. Surely Sandfur will fill you in later as to why he invited Badgerpaw to our training session.' Cloudpaw said, as if trying to reinforce Ivywhisker's thoughts, and as if to settle any of Ivywhisker's hesitancy. Badgerpaw stood beneath the towering oak tree, the breath that the brown tabby tomcat had been about to exhale stuck in his lungs, trapped by surprise. Badgerpaw had under estimated Cloudpaw's perceptive abilities; he hadn't realized that she'd be clever enough to seen through his ruse. Badgerpaw glanced over to the brown of the bark and wondered, briefly, if banging his head up against the tree trunk would be considered 'strange.' How could he have not realized that Cloudpaw you figure it out? Why can't be be denser? Badgerpaw asked himself, already knowing the answer to a question that he did not need to ask. Cloudpaw was his rival - she was better than him at most everything because she was her rival. If Cloudpaw wasn't as clever, as sarcastic ... as ... beautiful and great, then she'd just be another she-cat that he'd harass. Without Cloudpaw, harassing she-cats might eventually get boring. None of the other females in ThunderClan ever fought back when he randomly berated them with insults.

Badgerpaw took in a deep breath and gave his oaken head a shake, exhaling. He needed not to get so worked up in front of Cloudpaw; he didn't want to give her the satisfaction of knowing that he had been caught off guard and surprised. Badgerpaw's amber orbs flickered over to Ivywhisker, whose mouth opened, who readied herself to speak. '"Well, since there are two of you, I've decided to have a little hunting competition just for the fun of it. I guess whoever catches the most prey wins... I'm not sure if I'm going to have a prize though, if that's ok with you guys. Well, unless you two can come up with a reasonable prize, that is," Ivywhisker said, and Badgerpaw noted the uncertain smile on Cloudpaw's mentor's face. She seemed slightly disgruntled by Cloudpaw's words, like he. But, again, the tomcat didn't care about Ivywhisker's emotions. He didn't care about any she-cat's emotions. Nevertheless, Ivywhisker's plans pleased Badgerpaw greatly. It was as if she was trying to help Badgerpaw, to make his evil plans a success. Boy, I wish this she-cat was my mentor, not hers, Badgerpaw thought, enviously glancing at Cloudpaw. Ivywhisker was a good mentor, from what he could tell, and she fit in with his plans, oh so well. "I don't think we need a prize. I mean, the satisfaction of winning should be prize enough! It will be enough for me, anyways," Badgerpaw said brightly, glancing over at Cloudpaw with a look of pure challenge on his face. That look didn't stay, however. By the time he turned to reface Ivywhisker, the look on his face that had been directed to Cloudpaw was now a look of glee and innocence. Of course Badgerpaw wanted a prize for beating the snot out of his rival, but his prizes were a little more on the side of cruel, than 'fun and educational.' Asking for the prize to be forcing the loser to do whatever the winner says for a day would raise questions. He knew that Ivywhisker wouldn't ignore such an idea. She'd get the hint that the pair weren't actually friends, and that Badgerpaw was up to something. The brown ThunderClanner knew very well that he needed to keep his plan under the wraps.

Ivywhisker spoke again, making Badgerpaw's smile nearly bust out and off of his face, it was so large. 'Well, do you have any questions or anything before you start?' Ivywhisker asked, and Badgerpaw simply shook his head, unable to speak with the excitement that was building in his chest.

This day couldn't get any better.

Cloudpaw now had a reason to let him stay, so that she could whip that smirk off his scruffy face. There was no way she was going to let him harm her training session. Why should she always get pestered by his schemes? Why couldn`t he be on the recieving end of one of his own plans for once. Her face lit up with excitement, and success. A hunting contest was perfect, absolutly perfect. Cloudpaw had trained hard to develop her skills, and she knew that the lazy Badgerpaw would have to work to keep up with her. That alone made her want to laugh at him. She was making him move. Had he really thought the whole thing through? Cloudpaw knew that it had just gotten easier to impress her mentor, but did he know how much harder his little trick was getting? She almost felt sorry for him, almost but the sheer lust for his failure kept her from caring for long. She cast a reasuring glance at her mentor, and spoke."No questions here, and as for prizes perhaps another training sessions for the both of us again." That would stir his heart a bit. How would he like repeating his plan a second time, espeacially if he failed the first. She flashed him a glance of pure challenge at him, to get back at him.

Quickly she turned and scented the air. There were loads of prey. Of course she knew that the great sycamore tree had fed the clan for many many moons.A vole scuttled across her path, and she pounced snatching it in her inscissor like claws. Turning to stare at Badgerpaw she said."Theres plenty of prey here. Sadly though it looks like I claim the first." She walked over and dropped it near er mentor."We`ll keep the piles by you so that you can keep track of them. Then in a flash she was off. Her heart beat with fire as she scented again, and caught another vole. Badgerpaw would not find her an easy mark, and she waws going to completly crush him.

Tingles of anticipation sparked up the brown tabby's spine as he listened to Cloudpaw's words. I'm so ready for this, Badgerpaw thought and the tomcat's lips twitched in excitement, knowing that his hunting skills would crush Cloudpaw down into the dirt. 'No questions here, and as for prizes perhaps another training sessions for the both of us again,' Badgerpaw recalled what the gray tabby had said moments ago and his head spun with excited thoughts. The brown tabby feline was too busy thinking of the pain Cloudpaw would feel when he crushed her into the dust that he didn't even notice that she had begun and already taken a poor forest creature down. Cloudpaw's voice was what brought him out of his reverie; he was pushed into reality so violently that he gasped. I haven't won yet, Badgerpaw thought, and his cockiness dissipated. 'There's plenty of prey here. Sadly though it looks like I claim the first,' Cloudpaw had told him, mockingly, then went on to speak of piles that they would lay each creature they caught in. Is she really that ignorant? Badgerpaw wondered, but said nothing, looking onto her with a sneer and a face of annoyance. Leafbare was approaching. Certainly there would not be that much prey to catch. Certainly there piles wouldn't be that large.

Badgerpaw's ears flicked back as he watched her creep off into the depths of the ThunderClan forest, in pursuit of more lives to steal away. The large brown tabby's conscious cleared of all thoughtful thoughts and returned again to their previous tricks. His mind swirled with thoughts of winning and as he opened his mouth, the tomcat's maw also filled with the scents of the forest. Badgerpaw could taste everything that was in close proximity of the Great Sycamore, and for this, he thanked StarClan.

Forward, Badgerpaw padded, until he came across the form of a tawny brown mouse, sitting upright and eating a small seed that had fallen from the large sycamore. The brown tabby carefully placed his body in the correct hunting position, then launched himself in the air, coming down on the helpless mouse and cracking the mouse's bones apart. Success! Badgerpaw triumphed and scooped up the mouse in his jaws. The tomcat padded a few tail lengths away and deposited his prey in this pile. After setting the mouse down, Badgerpaw looked over at Cloudpaw's prey pile and a cruel thought came to mind. The feline looked around, wondering if Cloudpaw was present. If not ... well, there weren't any rules to this hunting game, who said he couldn't take? Badgerpaw settled onto his haunches.
