The musty den smelled unusually dirty, like the smell of molding moss, and the ginger tomcat noted that as he stepped into the Chosen One den, a line of rocks and stones trailing obediently behind him.
Settling against the back of the most shadowy corner of the Chosen One den, Copperfall waited for his circlemates to fill the den up. The ginger tomcat wondered, briefly, if all the cats would even be able to fit in the den; it was pretty small and, of course, was only meant for him to sleep in. Alone.
Grimacing, Copperfall glanced up at the spider coated ceiling. Copperfall had never been a particularly patient tomcat, but now, more than ever, he didn't want to wait for his circle mates to accumulate. The words in the ginger tom's mouth were aching to be released; he felt them popping against his jaws like static shock might. Hurry up already! Copperfall thought and narrowed his eyes as he watched them pour into his den.
His den. The ginger tom was wrecked by grief for a moment and had to stare at the floor of the Chosen One's den to calm himself down. This wasn't his den, Copperfall reminded himself. This was the den of his mate. The den of the only true Chosen One. The ginger tom still felt himself as just another Chosen; he still wished to take orders from his mate. As a Chosen, Copperfall had not been particularly proactive and now he was even less so. The raid, though, had not been Eveningfall's idea. What would she think of this suicidal mission, this desperate attempt to get food for his crumbling circle?
The orange tom cleared his throat and grimaced. Would she like it or not?
"Ehem," Copperfall began once everyone had filtered into the Chosen One den who planned to participate in the raid. The ginger tom was very greatful for the cats who had volunteered to participate this raid. These cats were truly loyal to their circle - but would they be so loyal once they found out what they had volunteered for? The Chosen One worried that his circle members would chicken out once they heard about the raid.
It did seem like a suicidal mission. Copperfall didn't mind this; he could think of nothing else to do to keep his circle stable and alive. He was desperate.
