AGE! 32 moons.
RANK! Deputy
GENDER! Female
CLAN! Thunderclan
SHORT DESC.! A small, silver coloured female with long, slick fur and a strong stride.
FULL DESCRIPTION!
Rainthistle is a Somali of fairly small stature, but she makes up for it with her quick, long stride. Her long grey fur is pale like moonlight besides one dark stripe that travels from her crown to the tip of her tail. Her large yellow eyes are always filled with an inquisitive gleam that has filled many unsuspecting apprentices with an uncomfortable feeling. Although she appears small and weak, beneath her fur is a body loaded with lithe muscle.
Her voice is often soft and tender, but can change easily to one of spite and rage.
PERSONALITY!
To those that do not know her well, Rainthistle appears to have a gentle, meek demeanor. She does not speak up much, preferring to watch and think. Thinking she is frail would be a grave error. Her clan knows of her quick, cold attitude. In battle she is fierce and dangerous, thinking less of her own safety and more of removing whatever is in her way. This is why she got the suffix of "thistle". Her attitude is prickly as a thistle.
When she does speak, it is often sarcastic and cruel. She does not make friends easily because she does not trust easily. This is both an asset and a detriment. She has a strong belief that no one will look out for her but herself, a view enforced by her mother when she was a kit. Because of this, she has often butted heads with other clan members. Still, she tries her best to lead, rather than just order. It is only to her leader, elders, and medicine cat that she is entirely respectful.
But don't let this deter you. She's not all anger and hate. It seems unfathomable, but she does have a soft side. When she makes the effort. She does have a heart. She just doesn't know how to truly trust and open it up to many other cats.
HISTORY!
What should have been an almost normal birthing went horribly wrong. The queen had recently lost her mate, and with him, part of her mind. When the rain began, it should not have been a problem. It was the lightning that spooked the fox. He'd been scoping out the queens, waiting for his opportunity. But the lightning struck too close. He bolted into the den as Morningtail was having her kits. The fourth and final had just been born. She was held between her mothers paws and licked gently. The other queen's saw the fox and panicked. They yowled, grabbed their kits, and struggled to escape. Morningtail crouched over her new kits and hissed as menacingly as she could. The fox paid her no mind. The queen's rushed passed Morningtail, knocking her down. She was helpless as the warriors rushed in. Her kits were helpless too. Claws and teeth and bodies caught up in the fight. The warriors could not kill the fox. They merely chased him off. It had all happened so fast. In a final act of desperation, the fox had tried to grab a kit. Of the 3 kits remaining, only 1 survived. The others had been crushed or torn to death.
Rainthistle's mother kept her close, warning her of what had happened to her siblings. She had sunk further into her insanity. The clan decided that she was not fit to be a mother and so they tried to take her final kit. She flew into a fury and attacked the other queens. But she was weak and easily taken down. Rainthistle's strongest memory of her mother was of her fighting to keep her only daughter. This created in her a distrust of her clan. Her mother's word caused her to distrust all animals.
As she grew and became an apprentice, she was found to be quick to learn, and a strong fighter. She was lacking in the patience needed to hunt efficiently, but in time she learned to handle it. She did not get along well with most of the other apprentices. She appeared to have befriended one of them for a time. A young tom she felt she could learn to like quite a bit. When he was taken by the two-legs she was heart broken. For a time she was wild and lashed out at everyone. But as the moons passed she calmed herself and closed off her heart.
As a warrior, she was more feared than respected. Her leader was hesitant to allow her to be a mentor for fear of what she might teach an apprentice. She was loyal to her clan beyond any expectations of her, and although she was not a very strong hunter she always tried her hardest to provide for her clan.
When the old deputy was badly injured and could no longer continue his duties, the leader decided to give her a chance. The other clan members were horrified at first, but slowly warmed up to her. Through the opportunity her leader gave her, she has begun to truly take on her responsibilities and learn to be a strong and trusted member of the clan. Though she is still very prickly, she has proven to her clan time and time again that she is loyal and truly cares about them, for all she seems aloof.
She recently began to believe in her clan mates more after she was defended by them from a fox.

Sunlight filtered gently through the leaves. The sun was high in the sky and the forest floor was warmer than it had been in a long time. High above, a crow circled. From beneath a tree root, a mouse skittered about. It sniffed the air warily, searching for danger. It could not smell anything, but that was because the danger was downwind. The mouse moved from it's safe area, less cautious. It felt it was safe. And if it knew who was hunting it, it had every right to feel so.
It was a miracle her silver pelt didn't stand out amongst the green and brown of the forest. Rainthistle crouched beneath a fallen log, shrouded in leaves. She watched her prey creep about. Thinking she'd finally found her opportunity, she pounced from her hiding spot. She misjudged the distance and her strong legs carried her too far. She tried to twist and grab the mouse, but it was too late. She hit the ground, turning quickly about. She saw the flicker of a tail and made chase, already knowing it was too late.
As the mouse disappeared down it's hole, Rainthistle gave a sigh. She'd been hunting since she'd risen that morning to no avail. It didn't matter how hard she tried. She was too proud to admit it to the other cats, but she knew that she could not do it. A strong fighter, but a weak hunter.
Feeling defeated, she headed home.
