CLAN! Riverclan.
SHORT DESC.! Brown tabby tom with green eyes.
FULL DESCRIPTION!
(picture) (lots more pictures because he's adorable)
Brakentail's black stripes are so broad that the line of fur along the ridge of his spine is entirely black. The rest of his fur is brown with flecks of gray. His underside is a lighter brown than the rest of him, and the fur around his nose is golden brown. His eyes are a light, sagey green.
He has a strong build, but enough height to him that he isn't bulky. His plume of a tail, for which he was named, is a bit fluffier than the rest of him. He's sleek like a Riverclan cat should be, with no noticeable scars.
PERSONALITY!
Brackentail is generally very friendly, and has a good sense of humor. He's frequently the one on the battlefield making the joking quips and jabs at both his opponents and his teammates. While he does know when to shut up, his understanding of when exactly that is sometimes disagrees with everyone else's.
He allows others to see when he cares. He isn't prone to taking out his frustrations on people physically (though he might yell at them). And while he may be an adult warrior, Brackentail makes no attempt to hide the fact that there is still a younger cat inside that runs the show now and then. He likes to have fun. He likes to go fast, and isn't at all ashamed of those things. Sure, he takes things seriously, but he somehow manages not to take them seriously all the time, or at least allows himself to see the absurdity and fun in life. Jaded Brackentail does happen, but typically it's a temporary condition that ends before he's managed to ruin his ability to smile.
He's also grown up with a heaping dose of motivation, and it usually takes true futility to make him quit. If they're dead, he'll accept that he can't bring them back to life. Put him alone in a room with no way out and he'll immediately waste a whole lot of time trying to get out. And then accept that he can't...for now. Maybe. He is just not the kind of guy to take 'no' for an answer, instead mentally translates it as 'not yet'.
He's has taken quite a few beatings in his life. He's dealt with many failures, too. Somehow it never breaks him and just makes him stronger. Inevitably, when faced with some kind of let-down or challenge, he mopes about it for a while and then decides to grow past it. It's not at all impossible to knock him down, but it is very hard to keep him down.
HISTORY!
Little Brackenkit was born when the clans were in a state of panic. They no longer had leaders with nine lives, after all. His father had been an outspoken member of the let's-all-go-be-rogues-now club and didn't stay in the clan for very long after Brackenkit was born. His mother didn't go with him, knowing that her small litter of kits would be better off with a clan to raise and protect them, but once they reached apprenticehood she got rabies. That was a depressing vigil.
Brackenpaw fared better after that though. His mentor was a stern senior warrior with an ear torn and tattered from a long ago spat with a badger. He drilled into his eager apprentice fighting moves and techniques with a greater urgency than hunting skills, out of the belief that war was on the way. It all stuck very well; Brackenpaw had developed a fierce desire to prove himself after his father's desertion. After finally learning to keep his tail still when he hunted, he was named a warrior.
Only a few moons after his warrior ceremony, a badger attempted to settle in Riverclan territory. Brackentail was assigned to the patrol to get rid of it, but during the attempt managed to be just not fast enough; his foreleg was broken. One painful limp back to camp later, the medicine cat was informing him that it would heal, but he'd have to give up warrior duties for a while. His old mentor had not been impressed.
On the road to recovery, he fell in love with a bright young apprentice just one test away from her warrior ceremony. They cleaned out bedding together, hunted together, went for aimless walks together. Up until she found her affections torn between him and one of his littermates. In the end, she chose his brother. Brackentail was heartbroken for a time, and when he passed inspection and was allowed back on patrols, he threw himself into the work with a vengeance. The pain faded over time, just like the jealousy. He managed to move on, but not without a few wistful sighs in her direction every now and again.
