FULL DESCRIPTION!
(picture) (look more pictures yay)
Big and burly and bearlike, and her imposing figure strikes fear into the hearts of all younger warriors and apprentices. She's got this straight, dark, gray-brown pelt and these bright, yellow-green eyes. Her left ear is tattered and in pieces. It looks like a somebody gnawed it off. Which is exactly what happened.
PERSONALITY!
Bearblitz was easily excitable in her youth, but she has since mellowed out. Well, mellowed out for her. She's still got a lot of energy for an older cat, and definitely still likes to have fun. Keep in mind though, I'm not talking chase-the-butterflies fun. Bearblitz is competitive and a practical joker. She's got a very dry sense of humor and sometimes her comments give other cats a hard time figuring out whether she's joking or not. She has perfected the deadpan, and can be very sarcastic.
After her mate's death, Bearblitz hasn't been as emotionally open. With everyone but her siblings, she tends to be gruff and businesslike. This works not so well with her desire to have a good time, leaving most cats unable to figure her out unless they've known her for awhile. To younger cats she can seem forbidding and unapproachable. I mean, she's big for a she-cat, she's named after those huge hulking creatures that sometimes attack two-legs, and she's a senior warrior who's lived through a lot.
HISTORY!
Bearblitz's parents had a fairly large age difference. Her father had been getting on in moons when he met her mother, Fernheart. He, Darkclaw, had had a mate moons before who was much closer to his own age, but she was taken by greencough. Fernheart was fresh out of apprenticehood and harbored a serious crush on the battleweathered Darkclaw. She was able to draw him out of his depression, and soon after bore his kits.
Bearkit had two siblings: Lilackit and Swiftkit. As kits, the three of them had gotten into more than the usual amount of trouble. Twice they escaped from camp; the first time they were found playing tag on the Lookout Plateau, and the second time they had managed to locate a den of rabbits. Other antics included: moving the entire fresh-kill pile into the leader's den, waking up everyone in the warriors den for a dawn patrol, sitting by the entrance meowing "The end is near" to everyone who passed by, changing all of their names to Nokit and refusing to answer to anything else, and deciding the center of camp was an excellent place to start digging a hole to the center of the earth.
Swiftkit had been the ringleader of all of their adventures, and the idea-master behind their practical jokes. However, Bearkit had fully supported every plan and usually pitched in an idea or two to make the plan better and funner. And let's not pretend that Lilackit had been any sort of conscience for the trio; she'd never turn down an opportunity to have fun, being the most light-hearted of the three. It was usually her pitiful pleas for mercy that got the three of them out of their trouble of the day.
As apprentices, Bearpaw and her siblings remained as close as ever. Their mentors actively separated them as much as possible, remembering their antics in kithood, but it only meant that at the end of the day in the apprentice's den, they had more to talk about with each other. Growing up didn't mean growing apart for them. And while they didn't give up their penchant for pranks, they worked hard to become warriors. It became a competition between the three of them: who could learn the fastest? Who could perform the best? Who could bring back the most fresh-kill, who could execute that attack the cleanest, who could go on the most patrols?
It was in the midst of this competition that a pack of wild dogs attempted to settle into WindClan territory. The three apprentices were instructed to help guard camp with a few warriors. The rest of the warriors, the leader and deputy included, left camp with the raid party to drive the dogs out. Bearpaw and her siblings, who had been so unruly and disobedient as kits, stayed in camp as ordered and remained on high alert. The warriors that were left stationed themselves just outside of camp to alert them in case any dogs came their way.
One dog did. It broke in on the opposite side from where the warriors were, and dove right for the apprentices. The three siblings put themselves in between the dog and the nursery and began attacking together, switching off diving in and out to confuse the animal and keep it from going after any one of them for very long. The sound of yowling and barking drew in the warriors from outside, and together they drove the dog out. Bearblitz had her ear bitten off for the trouble, though.
Their warrior ceremony was held the next day. Bearblitz, Swiftheart, and Lilacwhisker held their vigils together, and everything was perfect.
As warriors, they continued to compete with each other. They were young still, and had not yet experienced tragedy. They worked to perfect their fighting combination, always finding new ways to work together. Bearblitz was the first to receive an apprentice. It was as if the little tom had three mentors instead of one, the way the three warriors would train him together. It was the same with every apprentice a sibling received.
Their father, Darkclaw, did not live to be an elder. He died by snakebite the summer Bearblitz's first apprentice was made a warrior. Bearblitz and her siblings mourned him for many moons afterward, having been close with him. Their mother, Fernheart, was a warrior for many more moons after he died, and did not take another mate. She did live to become an elder.
Swiftheart was the first of the trio to fall in love. However, the object of his affection was a ThunderClan she-cat. Given the nature of his relationship with his sibings, his feelings for her did not stay secret for long. Bearblitz and Lilacwhisker did however refrain from telling anyone else. While they took every opportunity to convince their brother to stop seeing the ThunderClan warrior, they were loyal siblings to the bone. The both of them did their utmost to keep his meetings secret and constantly covered for him when he went missing.
In the meantime, Bearblitz began to enjoy the company of a WindClan warrior named Wildwind. He complimented her boundless energy and can-do attitude very well, and always made Lilacwhisker laugh. His spending time with Bearblitz naturally meant spending time with her siblings, and eventually he figured out Swiftheart's secret. But he understood all too well the way of love, and agreed not to tell. Eventually, he talked Bearblitz into giving up her warrior duties for a while to have kits.
It was during those six moons of kit-raising that Swiftheart realized that his relationship with the ThunderClan she-cat had to end. As everyone had suspected would happen, both Swiftheart and Lilacwhisker had spent just as much time with Bearblitz's kits as Wildwind, if not Bearblitz herself. And while Lilacwhisker was fine with never having any kits of her own, Swiftheart wanted kits. And he knew he could never weather watching them grow up in another clan, pretending he didn't love them.
He stopped seeing the ThunderClanner before Bearblitz's kits were apprenticed. Over the next six moons, he began courting a WindClan she-cat, and their kits were born when Bearblitz's kits were made warriors. Bearblitz and Lilacwhisker were doubly proud.
Wildwind was among the first WindClan cats to catch rabies. Out of the fear that he might attack a clanmate, he decided to leave WindClan to die alone. Against the advice of literally everyone, Bearblitz went with him. She refused to allow him to spend his last days alone, and was willing to risk exposure herself to keep him company. Swiftheart and Lilacwhisker were naturally not far behind. Swiftheart's mate was horrified that he would put himself in danger this way, but she could not talk him out of going and she could not go with him as she was nursing her second litter.
Four cats left WindClan. Three days later, three cats returned. Wildwind had not bitten any of them, though WindClan's medicine cat kept a close eye on the siblings to make sure. Throughout the rabies outbreak, all three siblings stayed healthy and strong, cursed only to mourn for the clanmates that were not so lucky.
